The outdoor space
Over the years we have raised money for some fantastic improvements to the outside space. These include the woodland area, the muddy change area, fencing and garden structures, the trim trail and climbing wall and the early years playground.

The school library
In 2020 we supported the creation of the school library by buying books and putting in shelving, beanbags and display racks. In 2024 a group of parents started to help Key Stage 1 children access the library on a weekly basis. The Friends bought a JKPS library stamp to enable books to be borrowed, alongside a range of new books to update the library stock.
Ad-hoc requests
We have raised money for other requests from the school such as a new set of laptops, Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Readiwriter spelling subscriptions, basketball hoops, football goals, SEN equipment, classroom supplies, curriculum books, the Mog Chronicle website hosting fee and more! We have also provided support for families who can't afford school trips or lunches.
JKPS Tigers
In Spring 2024 we heard that the JKPS Tigers football teams were very keen to have their own strip to wear whilst representing the school. We helped organise a bake sale which raised £560 towards the new kit and then topped that up to enable both Boys and Girls team to perform in their own kit.

Our fundraising comes through a variety of events and donations, including regular bake and uniform sales, our Summer Picnic, the Winter Fair and the annual Herne Hill Oktoberfest. We are so grateful for the ongoing donations from parents and corporates.
None of this would be possible without the support of our lovely JKPS families, staff and friends, so a huge thank you to all who give their time and money!
Events
Autumn Term 2024>2025
Oktoberfest -
Saturday 28th September
For our sixth Oktoberfest we got very lucky with the weather and had an amazing day. Thank you so much to everyone for every bit of help that made our biggest fundraiser such a success. Together we raised an amazing £17,000 for the school!
Funds raised will go towards the Sensory Room, early years playground improvements and the commemorative art project, plus a portion will be ringfenced for future bigger projects.
Quiz Night - Tuesday 22nd October
We hosted a Halloween-themed quiz night with rounds on the local area, sport, music, Judith Kerr and of course a fiendish German spelling test! The winning team, “The Substance” are pictured above.
Thanks to all who came, we hope to host more quizzes - get in touch if you’d like to get involved! We need more German speakers to get us through the spelling round...!
Sankt Martin -
Friday 8th November
We hosted a traditional German celebration of Sankt Martin's Day after school.
JKPS children and their families gathered around a bonfire with their lanterns and sang traditional German Sankt Martin songs whilst drinking hot apple juice.
It was a lovely celebration in honour of the benevolence of the Roman knight, Martin of Tours, who shared his cloak with a beggar on a cold evening.
Wreath workshop - Friday 29th November
The Christmas wreath workshop was a brilliant night filled with greenery, berries, pine cones, dried oranges, cinnamon sticks and lots of mulled wine!
Everyone who came went away with a fabulous wreath for their front doors - some of the creations were stunning.
Thanks to all involved, funds raised are TBC but will go towards the early years playground improvements.
Gardening Days
We run monthly gardening days to keep the garden weeded, watered, mulched, woodchipped and productive. Everyone is welcome, you don’t have to have green fingers or have any knowledge of gardening. Just bring the kids, and enjoy the grounds!
